The competition gets tougher as the season finale approaches.

Goodbyes are never easy but America’s Got Talent is making the process even harder. As season 13 steams toward its finale, the second round of quarterfinal cuts took place on Wednesday night (Aug. 22), which means more acts were sent home and seven lucky ones inched closer to the $1 million prize.

Out of the 12 acts who performed on Tuesday's (Aug. 21) show, musical acts Noah Guthrie, the Voices of Hope Children’s Choir, Glennis Grace and Makayla Phillips made the cut, along with comedian Samuel J. Comroe, trapeze act Duo Trancend and dance troupe Da Republik. For acts such as Front Pictures, Quin & Misha, Yumbo Dump, Savitsky Cats and Sacred Riana, though, it was the end of the line.

Blessed by the Dunkin’ Save, 15-year-old Phillips made it to the next round after performing a dazzling rendition of Julia Michaels' “Issues” as she reminded both the judges and the audience why she got the Golden Buzzer from judge Heidi Klum in the first place. Emotional, Phillips fell on her knees and cried over the news that she was safe for now.

Singer and Glee alumni Guthrie brought out the blues and bet all his cards performing his original song “Show Me Some Mercy” and luckily, also scored a well-deserved spot on the semi-finals.

Back stronger than ever, Grace once again took the audience’s breath away with her passionate, soothing voice, securing her spot in the next round with a beautiful rendition of “Never Enough" from The Greatest Showman.

Always inspiring, the Voices of Hope Children’s Choir stole the show again with a colorful and heart-warming version of another Showman song, “A Million Dreams." Really, how can you say no to this?

These talented acts will join the other quarter-finalists – Courtney Hadwin, Angel City Chorale, Vicki Barbolak, Junior New System, Shin Lim, Amanda Mena and We Three – in the semi-finals, which will take place on Sept. 4th and 11th. The show's grand finale will air on September 18th.
