Katharine McPhee is still mourning the recent death of her father, but the singer took time over the weekend to celebrate her engagement to David Foster by unveiling her stunning diamond ring.

On Saturday (July 21), McPhee shared a blissful Instagram photo of herself wearing the beautiful ring, and wrote a heartfelt message about how the piece of jewelry reminded her of her late dad, Daniel McPhee.

“It’s been a hard week. Lots of tears but I want to thank my friends and family for all the love and support. My dad was so happy for me," she captioned the photo. "My ring was the last thing I showed my dad before he passed and makes me smile when I look at this as a reminder of our last conversation.”

McPhee also shared some advice given to her by her new fiance. “My love wisely said to me the other day that ‘death is the only thing that is 100 percent inevitable and the thing we are least prepared for.’ So today we’re celebrating life and not forgetting love,” she wrote.

McPhee's father passed away just two weeks after the singer got engaged to Foster on July 3. She announced the news on her Instagram account.

"I can't believe I'm even writing this....But it is with heavy heart that I share that my sweet sweet Papa left this earth yesterday morning," she wrote alongside a photo of her and her father. "We as a family are completely heartbroken and devastated."
