Get to Know 'Runaway' Singer-Songwriter Aurora: Watch

In this week’s “You Should Know,” Billboard is getting to know Norwegian singer-songwriter Aurora.

The singer, who describes her music as “emotional,” says that she is inspired by Mother Earth, the moon, birds, Leonard Cohen and Enya.

The first song that she ever wrote, she reveals, was a “very sad song about death or something.” She adds that she ended up using a few lines from that song in her track “Lucky,” which appeared on her debut album.

Asked which song people unfamiliar with her sound should listen to first, Aurora picks “Runaway,” explaining that because it was one of the first songs she ever wrote, it is the “logical way” to begin a journey through her world.

Aurora also reveals that her (not so guilty) pleasure is eating baby porridge, adding, “I like the flavor with banana in it, and I only eat it if it rains a lot outside.”

You can watch the full video interview above to learn more about Aurora, including which heavy metal band she would like to collaborate with, what skill she would like to one day master and what the craziest thing she has ever done is.
