Fans began anticipating the split earlier in the day when the 23-year-old singer posted a photo with her dog that reads, "kiss my dog on the forehead and then kiss ur ass goodbye" -- a reference to the lyrics, "Kiss my son on the forehead then kiss your ass goodbye" in Drake's new song "8 Out of 10." She also had deleted many of her Instagram pictures with G-Eazy, including a post for his 29th birthday in May.
Back in May, Halsey opened up about their relationship on the Billboard Music Awards red carpet, saying, "We're both each other's biggest fan and also each other's hardest critic, so we can tell each other the stuff that other people might be afraid to say to us."
Earlier that month, the rapper (born Gerald Gillum) pleaded guilty after being arrested in Sweden on charges of assault, drug possession and resisting arrest. He received a probationary sentence, a $10,000 fine and a payment to the bouncer who was a victim in the nightclub assault.
Halsey was recently announced as a headliner for Saturday of the two-day 2018 Billboard Hot 100 Music Festival alongside Rae Sremmurd, DJ Snake and Future at Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theater in Long Island, New York, on Aug. 18 and 19.
