Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, Justin Timberlake: How Well Do You Know Their Breakup Song Lyrics?

As season one of “Finish the Hit” comes to an end, Billboard decided to find out how well people know the lyrics to some classic breakup songs. Host Taylor Ortega hit the streets to quiz pedestrians on Rihanna’s “Stay,” Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball” and Justin Timberlake’s “Cry Me a River.”

Kicking off with “Stay,” a handful of contestants are asked to complete the line “Not really sure how to feel about it/Something.” One girl correctly answers, “in the way you move,” adding with a laugh, “I’ve been in a breakup before!”

Given another lyric from the song – “All along it was a fever/A cold sweat” – one guy answers “and a wide-receiver.” While a valid attempt, the correct words are actually “hot-headed believer.”

Moving on to “Wrecking Ball,” most people come pretty close when prompted with the lyric “Don’t you ever say I just walked away,” giving the response of “I will always love you.” The correct answer is “I will always want you,” but the sentiment remains the same.

Finally, Ortega asks some participants to test their knowledge of Justin Timberlake lyrics, including the “Cry Me a River” line “You told me you loved me/Why did you leave me.” The accurate answer? “All alone?/Now you tell me you need me.” One man’s reply? “Why did you hug me and give me the clap, gee?”
