Ed Sheeran performs on stage at BBC Music Biggest Weekend held at Singleton Park on May 26, 2018 in Swansea, Wales.

Sheeran's 'Perfect' is also the most-Shazamed song in the world so far in 2018.

Ed Sheeran's having a good 2018 so far. Along with leading the Billboard Hot 100 at the beginning of the year with "Perfect," he's also the artist with the most Shazams this year so far -- and has the year's most Shazamed song in the world through the end of June.

According to Shazam, Sheeran's "Perfect" -- originally released in 2017 -- has earned more Shazam tags than any other song in 2018 so far, which assists in Sheeran's standing as the artist with the most tags as well. He leads J Balvin, Drake, Dua Lipa and Kendrick Lamar in the service's top five.

“Even though Ed’s album ÷ is now more than a year old, the songs from it continue to be Shazamed in large numbers,” Julian Marshall, Shazam's global head of content, says. “With some big releases incoming from Drake, Nicki Minaj and Ariana Grande, and tracks like 'X' [by Nicky Jam and J Balvin] still in our worldwide top 10, it’ll be interesting to see if he’s still top of the charts at the end of the year.”

Speaking of "X," on a song level, the Nicky Jam and J Balvin track has been Shazamed the second-most among all songs globally in 2018. That success translated to one week at No. 1 on Billboard's Hot Latin Songs chart in May.

Meanwhile, the rest of the top five includes Jax Jones' "Breathe," featuring Ina Wroldsen (a No. 1 hit in multiple countries around the world but yet to cross over to the United States outside of the dance-specific genre charts), Alice Merton's alternative crossover hit "No Roots" and Marshmello & Anne-Marie's so-called official friendzone anthem, "Friends."
