Ariana Grande Switches on 'The Light Is Coming' Featuring Nicki Minaj, Sets 'Sweetener' Release Date

The Light Is Coming…nah, the light is already here.

As promised, Ariana Grande has released her Nicki Minaj-assisted track, "The Light Is Coming." What Arianators weren't expecting, however, was an update on her forthcoming album Sweetener. But they got it, with Grande announcing her latest full-length set will drop on Aug. 17 via Republic Records.

The new track hit audio streaming services at the stroke of midnight, though fans will have to wait a little longer for its official music video. Award-winning director Dave Meyers (Missy Elliot, Kendrick Lamar, Katy Perry) shot the clip, which is slated to stream exclusively on Reebok.com from 12pm ET.

Produced by Pharrell Williams, “The Light Is Coming” borrows the bounce and vibe of the N.E.R.D. track "Lemon" and sees Grande spit out some spicier-than-usual lyrics.

"Ah, gonna break that shit down/You don't wait until they wait another round/ Ah, guess you're way above it now/And that's your way to love it now," she sings.

"Light" and previous single "No Tears Left to Cry" are offered as instant-grat downloads for fans who preorder Sweetener, Grande’s fourth studio album, from today. Also, pre-orders for the LP placed through shop.arianagrande.com will receive pre-sale ticket access to a future headline tour, according to a statement. To get the party rolling, Grande's website has restocked its digital shelves with a range of new Sweetener merch and tie-ins.
