Moby Is Selling His Full Record Collection For Charity
Moby has good intentions when it comes to his garage full of old records: sell all of it, and donate the proceeds to Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine.
The musician is featured in a promotional video released today (June 12) through Reverb, a music buying/selling service. In the video, Moby walks through a large unfinished room full of stacks of records and vinyls.
"These are all the records that I bought and loved and played and carried all around the world," Moby says. "I would rather you have them then me, because if you have them, you’ll play them, you’ll love them, and the money will go to the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine. So everybody wins. Well, except me, because now I don’t have any records," he jokes.
Also up or grabs are some of his own albums, which have been signed, including fan-favorite Play.
This isn't the first time that Moby has thinned out his musical collection. In April, the charitable musician auctioned hundreds of musical instruments and pieces on the same platform, including guitars and synthesizers. The proceeds went to the same cause (Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine), which is an organization aimed towards prioritizing "prevention over pills."
