Billy Corgan has been talking-up a Smashing Pumpkins reunion for some months. Well, he did get the old band back together, and the proof came overnight with the release of a new track, "Solara."

Produced by Rick Rubin, "Solara" is the first recording featuring the classic combo of Corgan, James Iha and Jimmy Chamberlin since 2000. Longtime guitarist Jeff Schroeder also steps in, though founding bassist D’arcy Wretzky isn’t part of the comeback.

"Solara" is a chest-out rock song, loaded with grinding guitars, a pounding rhythm section and big fills.  “I’m here to stay/They're here today/High and dry/Nothing but a body in my mind,” sings Corgan.

The rockers will take their show on the road next month for the Shiny And Oh So Bright tour, kicking off July 12 in Arizona. But before that, they’ll drop by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon next Monday to blow away the cobwebs.
