Watch Bhad Bhabie Talk Billboard Music Awards Nomination, Nicki Minaj & Cardi B, Working With Ty Dolla $ign, More
Bhad Bhabie (real name Danielle Bregoli) stopped by the Billboard office to discuss her Billboard Music Awards nomination, reflect on her breakout appearance on Dr. Phil, reveal if she would ever consider collaborating with labelmate Mason “Yodel Boy” Ramsey and to dish on what fans can expect from her new music, which will be released “very soon.”
Bregoli reveals to Billboard’s Kevan Kenney that she was asleep when news broke that she was nominated for her first Billboard Music Award, for top rap female artist. “[I got] a call from my manager,” she says, “and I had just did some really stupid shit, so he was like, ‘I thought there was nothing that could save you, but congratulations, kid, you were just nominated.’ I was like, ‘Huh? OK.’”
Asked if she thinks that she and her fellow nominees Nicki Minaj and Cardi B are the top three female MCs in rap right now, the 15-year-old responds, “I would say so … because what other rap female artists are really on the Billboard [chart]?” Bregoli’s recent release -- “Gucci Flip-Flops,” featuring Lil Yachty -- is her third single to hit the Billboard Hot 100.
Bregoli also discusses her infamous 2016 appearance on Dr. Phil, which brought her to stardom through her viral catchphrase “cash me ousside, how 'bout dat?,” divulging that while she is still herself, she has “changed everything” since then. When asked if she thinks that she was fairly represented on the show, Bregoli says, “No, not at all. But then I also look back and I’m like, I wish I could smack [myself] because something’s wrong with me,” she laughs.
For fans wondering when they can expect new Bhad Bhabie music, there will be a mixtape coming “very soon,” as well as a “really, really, really cool” track called “Trust Me” featuring Ty Dolla $ign. “I can’t wait to see reactions [to it],” she adds.
Bregoli also tells Billboard that she is a “huge Travis Scott fan” and that she would like to work with him “really bad.” There is unlikely to ever be a collaboration with her newly signed labelmate Mason Ramsey, though. Posed with the question if she would ever consider a yodel/rap crossover, she responds with a flat-out “no.”
