Get to Know 'Wait' Singer NoMBe: Watch

In the latest installment of the “You Should Know” video series, Billboard sits down with “Wait” singer NoMBe to find out more about him and the inspiration behind his music.

NoMBe (real name Noah McBeth) grew up in Heidelberg, Germany and cites his family for his passion for music. “Growing up, music was always there,” he shares. “My parents played music. I started playing classical piano when I was about six. My grandmother always played music around the house, so it was definitely a big thing in my family.”

When it comes to describing his sound, NoMBe says that it is “unique, it’s honest, it sounds great, and it goes many places,” explaining that the first minute of his song will not sound like the last minute, adding “I think we need more of [that] in music.”

As for musical influences, the musician reveals that he is inspired by Bill Withers, Daft Punk, Pharrell and composer Henry Mancini, while his favorite album is Lonerism by Tame Impala and he would love to one day collaborate with Electric Guest.

You can watch the full video interview above to learn much more about NoMBe, including what motivated his debut album They Might’ve Even Loved Me, what the craziest thing he has ever done is and what one wish he would ask a genie to grant.
