Lena Dunham touched many hearts with her recent Vogue essay about her decision to get a hysterectomy, including that of former boyfriend and producer/Bleachers lead singer Jack Antonoff.

Dunham’s piece is a deeply personal essay about her ongoing struggles with endometriosis, which lead to her eventual decision to have the hysterectomy at the age of 31. Antonoff tweeted a link to her piece along with the caption “beautiful story.”

The two, who had been together for five years, split sometime in early January, though in interviews since Dunham has explained that the breakup is not a definitive end to everything between them. In an interview with E!, she said, “I’m wearing this ring that Jack gave me and I’ll always wear it, because love is a really cool, powerful, eternal thing and it doesn’t have to be defined the way we in Western culture define it as beginnings and ends,” Lena said.
