A$AP Rocky dropped “ABOVE” on Wednesday afternoon (Jan. 24), the latest song to be released ahead of the rapper's elusive upcoming third album. This is the second song to come in two days from Rocky, who also released “☆☆☆☆☆ 5IVE $TAR$” on the AWGE SoundCloud page on Tuesday.

The newest song is tagged as “alternative rock” and is a one minute and 20 second long dreamy psychedelic-rock hit of Rocky crooning slowly over a beat that could be straight off a Tame Impala album. (Which wouldn’t be the first time he used the band for his own creative purposes.)

The caption to the song reads “THIS IS JUST A TEST,” which could mean a few things. For one, Rocky could truly just be testing sounds for his upcoming third solo album. This theory would make sense, as Tuesday’s drop had a notably unfinished production quality. But “Testing” could also be in reference to the album’s assumed title Testing, making these the real album cuts. Or, of course, it could be a confusing combination of all of the above.

Hype for his album has been growing steadily after the rapper confirmed its upcoming release in his cover interview with GQ in the fall.

Whatever Rocky is up to, here’s hoping Thursday provides his third consecutive drop.
