BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Signs Ticketing Deal With Ticketfly
New York City’s longest-running outdoor performance festival, BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival, has signed its first-ever ticketing deal with Ticketfly.
BRIC's deal to use the Ticketfly platform comes five months after Eventbrite finalized a purchase of the ticketing company in a $200 million acquisition from Pandora. Ticketfly founder Andrew Dreskin, who now serves as Eventbrite's head of music, said the two companies were currently "stitching the platforms together."
The deal also adds another reserved-seating amphitheater to the company's portfolio, which has a number of iconic New York venues using its ticketing services including Bowery Ballroom and Mercury Lounge.
"It's a tremendous honor and privilege to be working with BRIC," Dreskin tells Billboard. " As a kid growing up not far away in New Jersey, it's always been one of the most beloved venues in New York."
BRIC has hosted a summer concert series at the 9,000-capacity Prospect Park Bandshell amphitheater in Brooklyn since 1979. BRIC is a year-round non-profit that brings arts and cultural events to New York, culminating with the BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival which runs June through August each summer. Programming for the event includes 25 free shows and seven paid shows with big name artists that have included The Shins, Wilco, Robert Plant, Sigur Ros, Bob Dylan, Bon Iver, The National, Willie Nelson and Beck. The 2018 schedule will be rolled out beginning next month.
"We offer free and low-cost programming throughout Brooklyn with contemporary art programs and media and arts education," says Jack Walsh, executive producer of the BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival. "In 1979 we launched the performing arts program, growing out of an ethos to make art accessible to all."
The Ticketfly agreement covers all BRIC events, including the smaller BRIC House performance space at Rockwell Place in Brooklyn.
"Ticketfly is a great company with a fantastic user interface," says Walsh. "We came at this very thoughtfully and liked what they had to say and how it worked for us."
