Ellen DeGeneres Has Some Sad News for Eric Trump: 'I Am Not Part of the Deep State'
We're only four days into the new year and already Pres. Trump has seemingly put the country on a path to mutual destruction (thanks to his "button" tweet about North Korea), gotten into a nasty public spat with his former campaign CEO Steve Bannon and been revealed as a three-TV watching cheeseburger-in-bed eater.
That's all plenty disturbing, but the thing that got Emmy-winning daytime darling Ellen DeGeneres worked up was perhaps the most outrageous allegation to date coming out of Trump Nation: that she is part of the alleged secret cabal of government employees loyal to former Pres. Obama that has been trying to undermine the current administration.
Wait, what? While his dad was busy firing off more than a dozen incendiary tweets earlier this week, Eric Trump got in on the action on Tuesday (Jan. 2) by implying that DeGeneres -- along with Hillary Clinton and Obama -- is part of the so-called #DeepState.
DeGeneres responded to the outrageous suggestion on Thursday's (Jan. 4) show, saying "If you know me at all you know I don't pay attention to politics, but unfortunately politics pays attention to me." The comedian said she woke up on Wednesday to see that her name was trending on Twitter, which she assumed was tied to the ratings success of her new show, Game of Games.
Aside from not knowing which one Eric is, or what #DeepState refers to, DeGeneres said the tweet was the craziest thing she's seen all week, and she saw a woman get it on with a merman in The Shape of Water, so that's saying something.
"I am honored that you think that I'm powerful enough to be part of a government conspiracy," she said, noting that including her in this fantasy scheme is crazy because nobody is doing more to undermine the president than the president himself.
"I am sorry to disappoint you, I am not part of the deep state," she continued. "Even if somebody wanted me to be involved, I don't have that kind of time. I've got my gay agenda meetings on Mondays. On Wednesday Beyoncé and I host an illuminati brunch. And then Portia and I on the weekends are desperately trying to have a baby."
Or maybe it's because his sisters Ivanka and Tiffany follow her on Twitter. Check out the video below.
