John Legend arrives at the Billboard Music Awards at the T-Mobile Arena on May 21, 2017 in Las Vegas.

John Legend had a rough start to his birthday Thursday (Dec. 28), but luckily Chrissy Teigen was there to make light of the situation as per usual.

The singer turned 39 onboard Air Nippon Airways Flight 175, which made a U-turn four hours into its flight to Tokyo after an unauthorized passenger had accidentally boarded the plane. Teigen live-tweeted the whole ordeal, and made sure to document a mini celebration for her husband.

Now that the pair finally made it to their destination, some of Legend's closest friends turned to social media to wish him a happy birthday. See below for their wishes.

Happy birthday to the better half of my better half @johnlegend --
