Tyler, the Creator on 'Flower Boy' Hitting No. 1: 'This is Awesome'

Tyler, the Creator’s fourth studio album Flower Boy topped the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, making for a very successful 2017 for the rapper.

Speaking with Billboard, Tyler shares that he was in New York City at the time he heard about his LP’s chart moves. “I was sitting down on the couch and Clancy [his manager] said, ‘Hey, the numbers are good.’”

“I was like, ‘alright, cool. That’s exciting,’” the rapper continues. “I was just like, ‘Oh wow, this is awesome.’”

Flower Boy, which featured cameos from Frank Ocean, A$AP Rocky, Jaden Smith and Lil Wayne, amongst others, was included on Billboard’s 50 Best Albums of 2017 list.
