On an overall TV show and film front, Grey’s Anatomy, the long-running ABC medical drama that’s been at the forefront of musical montages (and, as a result, musical discovery on TV) since its inception in 2005, continued to break new songs and artists to its viewers in the midst of its 14th season. But Riverdale, the top new show for 2017, could be a future challenger to the throne, ranking at No. 6 among all TV shows in 2017, according to Tunefind.
Meanwhile, Baby Driver was chief among movies in 2017, little surprise to anyone who watched the Edgar Wright-directed flick, which weaves music syncs into its scenes to the point that the acting and choreography often takes cues from whatever song is playing in that moment. The movie’s soundtrack, which peaked at No. 27 on the Billboard 200 (July 22), included appearances from Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Beck, Sam & Dave and more -- 30 songs in all.
