News on Staind, the Breeders, and the Dismemberment Plan
Hard rock act Staind is finishing up its sophomore album, "Break The Cycle." Due out April 24, the Elektra album will include a full-band version of the song "Outside." A live acoustic version of the ballad by the band's Aaron Lewis and Limp Bizkit's Fred Durst from the Interscope "Family Values Tour 1999" album is No. 6 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Tracks chart this week, and peaked at No. 8 on the Modern Rock Tracks chart two weeks ago.
Staind will join Cold and Systematic in supporting Godsmack's upcoming tour, which will kick off Feb. 26 in Durham, N.H. Godsmack will be out supporting its Republic/Universal set "Awake," which was recently certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association Of America for sales of 1 million copies. The title track is No. 1 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks tally.

Alt-rock combo the Breeders, who recently surfaced for their first live gig in years at a Los Angeles club, will perform Feb. 25 at a special benefit concert at the city's Hot Pants club. The event will raise funds for Children Of The Night, an organization that aids teenage runaways. David Lovering, who was Breeders principal Kim Deal's former bandmate in the Pixies, will also perform with this band, David Lovering's Science Experiment. The event will also include a raffle of memorabilia signed by the performers.
