U.K. singer/songwriter Badly Drawn Boy (aka Damon Gough) has lined up a 20-date North American tour in support of his acclaimed XL/Beggars Banquet debut album "Hour Of Bewilderbeast." The tour will begin April 26 in Montreal and conclude with a May 20-21 stand in Los Angeles.
Last September, "Hour Of Bewilderbeast" won the prestigious Mercury Music Prize, a U.K. award for album of the year. In recent weeks, the set has made its mark on a handful of Billboard charts, including the Top Independent Albums chart, where it peaked at No. 23 last month.
As Gough told Billboard.com last fall, his childlike intrigue inspired the album's array of textures, from horn and vibraphone arrangements to natural sounds like chirping birds and splashing water.
"I'm intrigued with everything kids do, (so I am) trying to keep alive those innocent years that seem to get pushed out with the harsh realities of becoming an adult," he said. "It happens without you even realizing it and you still feel like the same person. I still feel 17, but I know I'm not."
