Beck To Hit Euro Festivals This Summer

The European run will kick off June 23 at Dublin's Creamfields Festival, and end July 14 at the Esparrago Festival in Jerez, Spain.
Prior to the European jaunt, Beck will be among the artists performing April 25-26 at Royce Hall on the UCLA campus during a tribute to folk legend Harry Smith, who in 1952 released the enduring historical recording "Anthology of American Folk Music." Also appearing will be Elvis Costello, Marianne Faithfull, Kate & Anna McGarrigle, and Mary Margaret O'Hara. Tickets to the event are available from the UCLA Central Ticket Office at 310-82-2101 and online.
Beck has been working in the studio with Faithfull for her upcoming solo album, according to his official Web site. Beck has also signed on for two upcoming tribute albums. He recorded "Stagger Lee" for a Mississippi John Hurt collection, and covered "Lonesome Whistle (I Heard That)" for the Lost Highway label's upcoming Hank Williams Sr. tribute set. The latter set will also feature covers by Bob Dylan, Sheryl Crow, and Emmylou Harris, among others.
Beck's last album, "Midnite Vultures" (DGC/Geffen/Interscope), debuted at No. 34 on The Billboard 200 in December 1999. The album is nominated for outstanding pop/rock album at the California Music Awards, which will be handed out April 28 at the Henry J. Kaiser Arena in Oakland, Calif.
