The R&B singer will begin the jaunt in Vancouver on July 14, and then head down the coast to hit Seattle, San Fr ancisco, Concord, Calif., Irvine, Calif., Las Vegas and Los Angeles.
The remainder of the North American tour, the artist's first in seven years, will be announced shortly. New dates will be posted on Sade's official Web site as they are confirmed.
Sade's "Lovers Rock" (Epic) debuted at No. 3 on The Billboard 200 last December, and has sold about 2.7 million copies in the U.S., according to SoundScan. A mother with a 4-year-old daughter, Sade's apprehension toward touring, and the media, has been well documented. But she told Billboard last November that the support of her fans makes the experience worthwhile.
"By the end of the last tour, I actually got to the point where I enjoyed being onstage," she said. "I felt comfortable enough to just be up there and sing the songs and express the songs. The biggest buzz for me is when we come onstage. The curtain comes down, we start playing, and we feel this warmth from the audience. They're amazing."
