Rachel Platten and Her Good Friend Share Emotional Heart To Heart

As part of Ford Front Row’s collaboration with Warriors In Pink, the “Fight Song” singer provides an intimate look into her relationship with a friend recovering from preventive surgery.

During a conversation with her friend Natalie Simpson, singer-songwriter Rachel Platten recalls when Simpson first told her that she was going to have a preventive prophylactic mastectomy after being diagnosed with the BRCA1 (Breast Cancer 1) gene. For Platten, songs are inspired by these types of conversations. Her latest single “Broken Glass” is about women lifting each other up. As she tells Simpson in this exclusive Billboard video, “a group of women that love and support each other? There is nothing like an amazing group of girlfriends.”

The Ford Front Row series has promised to bring fans closer to their favorite artists and at the fourth event that connection will be an even more emotional one. Taking place at Brooklyn Steel on October 15 in New York, it will be headlined by Platten's set of life-affirming power pop. Having partnered with Ford's Warriors in Pink initiative as part of the 'More Good Days' campaign, Platten has joined Ford and its 23 year history of committing to the fight against breast cancer. Warriors in Pink provides tips, tools and resources to breast cancer patients, survivors and co-survivors to give them more good days. For Platten, that involved making care packages for patients like Simpson to offer a light at the end of a long tunnel. This year the More Good Days initiative travels around the country to Denver, Miami, Seattle, Chicago, Atlanta and New York, hosting events for survivors and patients until the end of October.
