A 2001 version of the Furthur Festival, with an official name yet to be determined, will play small amphitheaters in August through Labor Day, featuring ex-Grateful Dead principal Bob Weir's Ratdog, Rusted Root, and Karl Denson's Tiny Universe. Weir, fellow Grateful Dead members Mickey Hart and Phil Lesh, and keyboardist Bruce Hornsby toured Furthur as a band in 1998.

In other news, Ratdog will play seven shed dates July 9-22 with Lesh & Friends in the first pairing of the two former Dead members' bands.

  • July 9: Oklahoma City, Okla. (Zoo Amphitheater)

  • July 10: St. Louis (Riverport Amphitheater)

  • July 17: Detroit (DTE Music Theatre)

  • July 18: Columbus, Ohio (Polaris Amphitheater)

  • July 20: Mansfield, Mass. (Tweeter Center)

  • July 21: Hartford, Conn. (Meadows)

  • July 22: Saratoga Springs, N.Y. (Saratoga PAC)
