Wilco will soon be the subject of its own feature-length documentary, tentatively titled "I Am Trying to Break Your Heart," after a title of a track from the alt-country/pop band's forthcoming Reprise album, "Yankee Foxtrot Hotel." The film is being directed by L.A.-based filmmaker/photographer Sam Jones.

"Basically, it's open season on our work, our studio and our lives," Wilco leader Jeff Tweedy said in a statement. "I'm looking forward to working with Sam on this. Or should I say I'm looking forward to watching him work as we do what we do. I'm not afraid of the truth --generally -- so I say bring on the cameras. Let the chips, or whatever, fall where they may."

Jones began assembling material for the project last December, and will chronicle the entire process of recording the album. "Yankee Foxtrot Hotel" is scheduled for a July 10 release, and Jones hopes to have his film completed early next year. The project will also showcase highlights from Tweedy's solo performances last winter.

Wilco can currently be seen, along with British folk-rocker Billy Bragg, in "Man in the Sand," a documentary about the making of the two "Mermaid Avenue" albums that put new music to unrecorded Woody Guthrie tunes. The film is available on DVD/VHS from Rykovision.
