GoFundMe for Las Vegas Massacre Victims Raises Over $8.2M

A GoFundMe started by Clark County Commission Chair Steve Sisolak has moved its goal from $2 million to $10 million, thanks to the large response in donations since the campaign's kickoff on Monday (Oct. 2).

According to Sisolak, the funds raised "will be used to provide relief and financial support to the victims and families of the horrific Las Vegas mass shooting?." As of 12:30 a.m. Wednesday (Oct. 4), the GoFundMe has raised over $8.2 million, with the total after 62,986 contributions adding up to $8,261,938.

Blood donation centers around the city have been swamped with long lines of people desperate to help those injured by the deadly shooting and in need of blood transfusions. Donors began lining up in the middle of the night, and by daybreak, lines had formed around the block at United Blood Services near the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino.

A gunman, identified as 64-year-old Stephen Paddock, opened fire at the Route 91 Harvest Festival outside the Mandalay Bay Sunday night, killing 58 and injuring more than 527.

The Thomas & Mack Center, an arena on the campus of the University of Nevada, also received a large amount of supply donations in the hours following the massacre.
