“We are privileged to tour and to tell the stories of life in our city," band leader and tuba player Bennie Pete tells Billboard.

New Orleans jazz outfit Hot 8 Brass Band are putting themselves front-and-center in the video for “St. James Infirmary” from their fifth album, On The Spot.

On the LP -- which was released in March via Tru Thoughts -- the group’s interpretation of the jazz standard is rife with the macabre New Orleans tinge and brass band flare. And while those sorts of emotive musical stylings could offer a director plenty of distractions, in this clip Alan Gastelum wisely keeps the sole focus of the video on the musicians as the track serves as an ode to heroes and contemporaries alike from their storied 20-plus year career.

“We are privileged to tour and to tell the stories of life in our city, to keep alive the memories of our band members who have passed, as well as all the musicians who have gone before,” band leader and tuba player Bennie Pete tells Billboard.

The Hot 8 Brass Band is set to embark on a European tour starting on Oct. 11 in Manchester, United Kingdom. Tour information can be found on their website here and see the full dates below.
