The U.K.'s All Tomorrow's Parties festival will make its American debut Oct. 19-20 at the University of California in Los Angeles, a spokesperson for the university's Events Commission confirms. The event will be curated by Sonic Youth, who will also perform. New York underground rock titans Television, who reunited for the U.K. edition of the festival in April, will also be on the bill.
Other acts set to perform include Stereolab, Japanese noise-rock pioneers the Boredoms, ex-Pavement frontman Stephen Malkmus and his new band the Jicks, the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Autechre, Quixotic, Le Tigre, and the Fred Anderson Trio. Drag City Records confirms that four artists from its roster -- U.S. Maple, Smog, Papa M, and Royal Trux principal Neil Hagerty -- will also be on hand.
This year's U.K. version of All Tomorrow's Parties was curated by Tortoise and featured appearances by a number of associated acts, including the Sea & Cake, the Ex, Savath + Savalas, and Broadcast.
In related news, Sonic Youth's short European tour kicks off Thursday (June 7) in Paris and runs through a June 18 date in Rome. The group also plans to score French director Olivier Assayas' next film, "Demonlover." SY's most recent Geffen studio album, "NYC Ghosts & Flowers," debuted at No. 172 on The Billboard 200 last June.
