Alanis Morissette has renegotiated her record contract with Maverick Records and will release the first project under the new deal in October, sources tell Billboard Bulletin. Morissette, whose two albums for the label have sold more than 35 million units worldwide, was locked in intense negotiations with the label for several months before inking the new deal. Maverick Records declined to comment.

Although the album is as-yet-untitled, Morissette has debuted 12 new songs in concert over the past few weeks. Among the song titles being bantered about on Morissette Internet fan sites include "Precious Illusion," "Fear of Bliss," "Flinch," "Narcissus," and "Hands Clean."

The artist is on tour internationally through next month and will perform next on July 1 at the Canada Day festival in Ottawa, Ontario. Additionally, Morissette will deliver the artist spotlight address at the sixth annual Plug.In conference, to be held July 23-24 at the Sheraton Hotel & Towers in New York. Morissette's session will be introduced by Billboard editor in chief Timothy White.
