Your 2017 Total Solar Eclipse Playlist Is Here: Bonnie Tyler, Pink Floyd, Soundgarden & More

"If you steal my sunshine."

On Monday (Aug. 21), the Earth will experience its first total solar eclipse since 1979, at which point the moon will move across the sun in a handful-in-a-lifetime moment that in the past would have made our ancestors fearful as an omen of impending doom.

Of course, that’s not true (hopefully?), but the temporary blackout, as defined by NASA, is when the moon casts two shadows -- one the umbra, and the other, the penumbra, and occurs when “one heavenly body such as a moon or planet moves into the shadow of another heavenly body.”

Below, Billboard has curated a Total Solar Eclipse ’17 playlist to soundtrack this epic occasion, perusing the archives for some obvious (looking at you Bonnie Tyler), and more obscure references (Len's "Steal My Sunshine," Kid Cudi's "Day 'n' Nite") to the celestial wonder.

Give it a spin below and make sure to snag a pair of eclipse-protectant eyewear before taking in the sight.
