At 19 years old, Britney Spears is growing up, and says her upcoming live HBO special will have an attitude to reflect that fact. "I really want this to be shocking and edgier," she said Friday at the Television Critics Association summer gathering in Pasadena, Calif. "This show will be an event. It's going to be to the next level as far as stunts."

As previously reported, the Nov. 18 concert will take place at Las Vegas' MGM Grand. The show is set to include a duet with Cher on "The Beat Goes On," a No. 6 hit on The Billboard Hot 100 in 1967 for Sonny & Cher.

"I want to do things that people have never seen before," said Spears, wearing a clingy purple mini dress. "I don't want to be considered a role model."

Spears has mentioned in magazine articles that she enjoys an occasional drink, even though she is under the legal age of 21. "I like to celebrate when something comes up," she said, "but I do everything with balance. One drink here or one drink there is fine. I'm growing up, I'm not a little girl anymore. But I never overdo anything. I can't afford to do that."

Spears' HBO special will come less than two weeks after the release of her third, as-yet-unnamed Jive album. Due Nov. 6, the set was recorded in Sweden with producer Max Martin and will follow up the artist's "Oops! ... I Did It Again!" That set, which debuted on top of The Billboard 200 last June, has been certified for sales of 9 million copies in the U.S. by the Recording Industry Association of America.
