Country trio the Dixie Chicks have signed on to headline the inaugural Texas Twilight Gala to benefit pediatric AIDS charities. The group will perform an acoustic set with the Austin Symphony Orchestra at the Sept. 15 invitation-only event at the Austin (Texas) Music Hall. Shawn Colvin and Terry Hendrix are also slated to perform.

Hosted by the Office of the Governor Texas Film Commission & Music Office and Pediatric AIDS League (PAL) of Texas, proceeds from the gala will benefit the Pediatric AIDS League of Texas, University of Houston Pediatric HIV Program, and Pediatric AIDS Network of Dallas (PANDA).

"PALs relationship with the Dixie Chicks began with the birth of [vocalist] Natalie Maine's son, Jackson Slade, when she requested that donations be made to the organization in lieu of baby gifts," Clif Loftin, PAL executive director said in a statement. "We are honored to continue that relationship and be the beneficiary of this special Dixie Chicks performance knowing the impact monies raised will make to fight pediatric AIDS in Texas."
