'Despacito' Gets a Metal Makeover: Watch the Cover
The song title might mean "slowly," but there's nothing slow about this cover. Or quiet, for that matter.
Norwegian musician and cover artist Leo Moracchioli of Frog Leap Studios decided to transform Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee's unstoppable Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 "Despacito" into a head-banging hit. He covered the song on his YouTube page, where he posts heavy metal covers of popular songs as varied as "Hakuna Matata" and Shakira's "Whenever, Wherever."
Moracchioli, a non-Spanish speaker, created a phonetic version of the lyrics to aid with his pronunciation and played every instrument needed for the cover himself.
My phonetically lyric sheet for The Despacito cover haha. I approached this the same way as I did with Gangnam style, so much easier to just write down what I hear instead of trying to read a language I dont know. Maybe I'll try to invent a new language haha. #lyricswithnomeaning #despacito #metalcover #frogleapstudios
Thanks to his effort, heavy metal fans can finally join in on the "Despacito" craze -- and enjoy a version of the song made especially for them.
