"Why the hell would I worry what people thought about that?"

When Ed Sheeran briefly deleted his Twitter account earlier this week, many believed it was due to the high volume of criticism he'd received on the social-media site for his controversial cameo on the HBO series Game of Thrones. But in an Instagram post Wednesday (July 19), Sheeran denied that his Twitter absence had anything to do with the show.

"I came off Twitter coz I was always intending to come off Twitter, had nothing to do with what people said about my game of thrones cameo," the singer wrote under an unrelated adorable photo of him and his manager. "Why the hell would I worry what people thought about that. It's clearly f---in' awesome."

Thankfully for his fans, Sheeran reactivated his Twitter account by Tuesday.
