Katy Perry Talks Touring, Therapy and Orlando Bloom in the Buff

Katy Perry hasn’t been shy of going way off-piste in the promotion of her new album, Witness. That’s pretty much where the conversation went when she chatted with "shock jocks" Kyle and Jackie O for their daily show on Australia’s KIIS 1065.

Talking from New York, the “Chained to the Rhythm” singer discussed her Witness World Wide live stream (she lifted the curtain to “help inspire people and help inspire all types of different conversations”), her upcoming performance on the finale of The Voice Australia, and therapy (she’s been going to therapy for about 5 years. “There’s nothing weird about taking care of your physical and mental health.”)

Kyle Sandilands then took the conversation sideways. The controversial broadcaster grilled Perry on her ex Orlando Bloom and how it came to be the actor was snapped stark-naked on a paddle board while the singer was clothed.

“That’s a great segue from therapy. I’ve had a lot of therapy about that moment actually,” quipped a slightly cagey Perry. “He asked me if I wanted to be [naked] and I was like…ah, no. You know when you’re dating someone sometimes, and you’re like, should we try and make out over here in this place or what have you. I was just not in the mood. I saved it for the boat.”

She had more to the story. "He was just trying to show off for all the people back at the shore. You know, he was so funny because I was kind of explaining Twitter to him and social media because he had taken a bit of a break on all that stuff. I’d been explaining to him for a few weeks and then all of a sudden he was like number one trending on Twitter. And he was like, ‘I understand Twitter.’”

Perry had the inside-track on Kyle’s lowbrow antics. At the top of their chat, she mused: “You guys are always worth it. You’re funny, scandalous and exciting all the same time. You never know what kind of trouble you’re going to get into when you talk to Kyle and Jackie.” Quite.

The U.S. singer also hinted at a full-scale tour of these parts in support of Witness, which opened at No. 2 on the ARIA Albums Chart. “I have not officially announced my touring yet, but I think I will be coming over there to do, you know, a little bit more than just The Voice…I love touring Australia.”

Listen to the interview below. Katy comes in at the 57-minute mark.
