Mariah Carey, Wyclef Jean, Willie Nelson, Jane Kaczmarek, and Jimmy Smits have joined the list of stars who will appear on "America: A Tribute to Heroes," a two-hour commercial-free special organized by the major television networks to raise money for the victims of the last week's terrorist attacks in New York and Washington, D.C.
The total number of TV outlets set to carry the event has grown to 10 broadcast and 17 cable networks, and more are expected to join. The show will air tomorrow (Sept. 21) at 9 p.m. live in the Eastern and Central time zones and tape delayed in other time zones. In addition, Yahoo! will carry a live broadcast of "America" on the Internet.
Joining previously announced ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC, the WB Network, UPN, and Spanish-language Telemundo are broadcast networks PBS, Pax, and Spanish-language Univision, as well as HBO, Showtime, USA, TNT, FX, TNN, Lifetime, MTV, VH1, BET, Comedy Central, Court TV, Discovery, E! Entertainment Television, Fox Family Channel, Sundance Channel, and TLC. Several Westwood One and Clear Channel Communications radio affiliates nationwide will simulcast the special.
As previously reported, Bruce Springsteen, the Dixie Chicks, Bon Jovi, Sheryl Crow, Billy Joel, Faith Hill, Alicia Keys, Tom Petty, Paul Simon, Will Smith, Stevie Wonder, and Neil Young will also participate in the event.
