"For a movie like 'Baywatch,' we knew we had to do something epic ... the result is a loud, irreverent and badass tune our audience can enjoy all summer long," says The Rock

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and YouTube star Logan Paul are bringing their comical viral pop song "Song of Summer" featuring Desiigner and David Hasselhoff to streaming services with a new radio edit and lyric video out Friday (June 2).

The track is the product of a web miniseries produced by the digital arm of Johnson's production company Seven Bucks Digital Studios -- which he co-founded with Dany Garcia -- wherein Paul sets out to prove himself to the movie star as the "official ambassador" of the new Baywatch film and winds up falling in love with the film's star Alexandra Daddario. It turns out Daddario is only interested in dating musicians, so Johnson decides to help his buddy out by teaming him up with Desiigner to write a new song. That song turns out to be the comical and catchy "Song of Summer," with an accompanying parody music video featuring Hasselhoff.

"For a movie like Baywatch, we knew we had to do something epic on the channel," Johnson tells Billboard. "Without hesitation, our team took on the ambitious project of writing and producing an original song. The result is a loud, irreverent and badass tune our audience can enjoy all summer long."

"It was incredible for our Seven Bucks Digital Studios Team to collaborate with such talented artists and performers in the music space," adds Johnson's Seven Bucks Productions co-founder Dany Garcia. "We set out to get our hands dirty, push the envelope and entertain our audience in a way that only we at Seven Bucks know how. Our digital channel has allowed us to do just that."
