Veteran metal act Slayer will set out on a North American tour beginning Oct. 29 in New Orleans. The trek comes in support of the group's latest American Recordings album, "God Hates Us All," which debuted at No. 28 on The Billboard 200 last month. Slayer is currently in Europe with Static X on the Tattoo the Planet tour, which wraps Oct. 14 in Birmingham, England.

That trek was to feature Pantera, but the group dropped off the bill in the wake of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Slayer soldiered on, saying in a statement that "as a band, we simply refuse to play into the hands of these terrorists. We won't allow them to disrupt our lives any further."
