The majority of newly recorded holiday albums are money-making ventures, according to a recent Billboard.com poll. Of 3,240 respondents, 34% said that most of the new holiday titles are less musically valid than profit driven releases.

The second largest block of voters, 25%, said that they are not interested in holiday music.

Just 22% of those taking part in the poll said they enjoy hearing fresh renditions of holiday favorites and new songs for the season. Another 12% agreed, but said it was less for the songs than for one or more of their favorite artists performing them.

Those loyal to the same holiday albums that have entertained their families for many years and don't plan to add to their collection made up 8% of the total.
