James Mercer of The Shins perform during the 2012 Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival on June 10, 2012 in Manchester, Tenn.

Kick back, tune in and get infected by heartworms. The Shins’ Heartworms, that is (the only good heartworms).

The indie-pop faves' fifth LP dropped overnight and is the follow-up to 2012’s Port Of Morrow, which reached No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Album.

It’s a melodic jaunt, bursting with feel-good vibes and set-up by the joyful opener “Name For You.” Heartworms was written entirely by frontman James Mercer and, with the exception of track “So Now What” (produced by Richard Swift), it's the first Shins album to be self-produced by the singer since Oh, Inverted World from 2001.

The Shins will support Heartworms with a world tour. Mercer will hit the road with Yuuki Matthews(bass), Jon Sortland (drums), Mark Watrous (guitar, keys, vocals), Casey Foubert (guitar) and Patti King (keys).
