Jay Z Celebrates Songwriters Hall of Fame Honor: 'This Is a Win for US'
Jay Z is the first rapper chosen to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and on the heels of the monumental announcement, the hip-hop icon turned to social media to express his gratitude.
He tweeted Wednesday (Feb. 22), encouraging his fellow rappers to celebrate this victory in the rap community.
By the way, this is a win for US. I remember when rap was said to be a fad . We are now alongside some of the greatest writers in history.— Mr. Carter (@S_C_) February 22, 2017
Other 2017 inductees include Max Martin, Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, Berry Gordy, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, along with three members of Chicago.
The 48th annual Induction and Awards Dinner will take place at NYC’s Marriott Marquis Hotel on June 15.
