This afternoon, Billboard launches the “Billboard on Broadway” pre-Tony Awards video series on Billboard.com.  Videos of intimate performances by the stars and composers of current Broadway musicals will post every Thursday at 3 p.m. EST* through June 1 in advance of the annual awards ceremony on June 11, airing live from Radio City Music Hall on CBS.

The series heralds more in-depth Billboard coverage of the vibrant current musical theater scene in New York and beyond, with a recently launched new Broadway vertical on Billboard.com and, in the coming weeks, the “Billboard on Broadway” podcast, hosted by senior editor Rebecca Milzoff.

Shows confirmed to perform on the series include, but are not limited to: Kinky Boots, Aladdin, On Your Feet!, Chicago, School of Rock – The Musical, Miss Saigon, Come From Away, A Bronx Tale, Bandstand, Cats, In Transit, Anastasia, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Amélie, Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812, War Paint, and The Lion King.

The series kicks off later today with a performance by Chilina Kennedy, Jake Epstein, Freddy Hall and Jason Howland of Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, in honor of the iconic singer-songwriter’s 75th birthday. King is a multi-Grammy-award winner (including a Lifetime Achievement honor) and the Beautiful cast recording won the Grammy for best musical theater album in 2015.  The show started performances on Broadway in November of 2013 and is still running, with no closing date set.
