M.I.A. attends the Stella McCartney show as part of the Paris Fashion Week Womenswear Spring/Summer 2016 on Oct. 5, 2015 in Paris, France.

One day after teasing her new single “P.O.W.A.” on Twitter, British rapper and producer M.I.A. released the song's visually stunning music video on Wednesday (Feb. 8).

Her teaser tweet denied comparison to modern pop icons, with lyrics asserting she’s not Rihanna, Madonna, Mariah or Ariana. No stranger to drama and public disputes, M.I.A. raps that she is a “real spice girl, hot girl power.” The rest of the song challenges a different type of influence, slaying the idea of “supa-kala fascist, racist, espi-ala-tazors” and encouraging the power of the people.

The self-directed video artistically mirrors the rejection of idolized pop, featuring M.I.A draped or laying in colorful and luxurious fabrics and flora against a neutral-toned rocky environment, a stark contrast to the over-the-top performances typically seen in pop music videos. Lastly, the clip features a stunt team that delivers astonishing choreography with physical talent worth watching.
