He’s been smashing the Australian singles chart to pieces for the last month, but Ed Sheeran somehow managed to quietly slip into the country to play a secret gig at one of the market’s most iconic venues.

The English singer and songwriter delivered a surprise performance Sunday night for 80 lucky fans at Victoria’s Hanging Rock in the Macedon Ranges. Sheeran’s Hanging Rock concert, one of two low-key shows on this trip, was organized by Frontier Touring and taped for Hit Network’s World Famous Rooftop.

TV and radio personalities Hamish and Andy roped Sheeran into a classic prank on his last visit to these shores, and they were on hand for Sunday night’s open-air show.

In that same year, Sheeran became the first-ever artist to embark on a headline national arena tour completely solo (playing to 190,000 people along the way). He returned with his loop pedal and favorite guitars for a solo stadium tour later in 2015. Earlier this year he made history Down Under by becoming the first artist to have simultaneous debuts at No. 1 and No. 2 on the ARIA Singles Chart,
