Executive produced by Ridley Scott, 'Clive Davis: The Soundtrack of Our Lives' will premiere with performances by Aretha Franklin, Jennifer Hudson and Earth, Wind & Fire.
The documentary Clive Davis: The Soundtrack of Our Lives will open the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival, complete with a concert of chart-toppers at Radio City Music Hall.
Aretha Franklin, Jennifer Hudson and Earth, Wind & Fire are among the acts who will perform after the doc's world premiere on April 19.
Based on Davis’ bestselling 2013 autobiography, Clive Davis: The Soundtrack of Our Lives explores the life and historic career of the seasoned music executive and producer, from his humble Brooklyn beginnings and brief stint as a lawyer to his development of major record labels (Columbia, Arista, J). The doc also encapsulates the discoveries and careers of artists he nurtured, and steps inside his storied annual Pre-Grammy Gala for the first time. The loss of Whitney Houston, to whom Davis wrote a pleading letter before her death, is recounted in a major chapter of the film.
