Willie Nelson has put a bout of bad health behind him and he’s getting on with the life he loves: making music with his friends.

The country music legend will release a new album God’s Problem Child on April 28, featuring several collaborations with his longtime producer Buddy Cannon, and songwriting credits from the likes of Gary Nicholson, Jamey Johnson and Tony Joe White

The title track features a guest vocal from the late Leon Russell and the closing number “He Won’t Ever Be Gone” is a tribute to Nelson’s good friend Merle Haggard, who passed away last April. Russell's contribution is considered to be one of the final recordings he made before his death last November.

The politically-charged album track "Delete and Fast" references the 2016 U.S. presidential election and carries the line, "Delete and fast-forward, my friend/ The elections are over and nobody wins/ But don't worry too much, you'll go crazy again/ Delete and fast forward, my friend," Nelson recently told Rolling Stone

The album will be available in various physical and digital formats and PledgeMusic bundles include t-shirts, autographed CDs and vinyl, slipmats and more merch.

Nelson’s new LP is something of a birthday present to himself. The set, his first collection of new material since 2014’s Band of Brothers, will drop a day before the singer's 84th birthday.

The Country Music Hall of Famer is on the road again, with North America tour dates booked through August.
