A year after opening up to fans about her struggle with endometriosis -- a disease that causes inflammation outside of the uterus and can lead pelvic pain, fatigue, nausea and potentially infertility -- Halsey has shared an update on her treatment from a hospital bed. The singer-songwriter, who was diagnosed following years of suffering from pain, now reveals she's had surgery to treat her chronic illness.
"Today I braved multiple terrifying surgeries," Halsey wrote on Instagram, where she posted a thumbs-up selfie in a hospital gown and cap. "The most important of which being the surgery that would hopefully treat my endometriosis. For those of you who have followed this battle of mine or who may suffer with it yourself, you know the extremes to which it can be mentally exhausting and physically painful. OK HONESTLY I'm in total agony right now (and I'm going to be in excruciating pain for a while cause I had quite the cocktail of procedures today)."
