"It really was an incredible holiday season that turned into a horrible New Year’s Eve."
After the back-and-forth battle between Mariah Carey's reps and Dick Clark Productions, the singer has voiced her own disgust with the New Year's Eve lip-sync flub she suffered on live television.
"All I can say is Dick Clark was an incredible person and I was lucky enough to work with him when I first started in the music business," Carey told Entertainment Weekly. "I’m of the opinion that Dick Clark would not have let an artist go through that and he would have been as mortified as I was in real time."
Carey suffered quite the snafu on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve With Ryan Seacrest, when the in-ear audio stopped working during her performance of her hit "Emotions." Prior to statements from her reps and Dick Clark Productions, Carey took to Twitter to address the error ("S--t happens ... Here's to making more headlines in 2017," she joked in the caption of a gif of herself), but this is the first we've heard from the singer herself since.
