Sleater-Kinney saw in the New Year by paying tribute to a pair of British music giants lost in 2016: George Michael and David Bowie

The alternative rock veterans -- Corin Tucker, Carrie Brownstein and Janet Weiss -- wrapped their show Saturday night in San Francisco with covers of Michael's “Faith” and Bowie's “Rebel Rebel.”

The trio called up support from Kathy Foster of The Thermals for their rendition of Michael's "Faith," while Spoon’s Britt Daniel stepped in to sing lead on Bowie’s rock classic, the last song of the night.  

The concert at Nob Hill Masonic Auditorium was Sleater-Kinney’s first live appearance since Chicago’s Riot Fest in September and they’ve posted no dates for the months ahead.
