Latin star Alejandro Sanz has scheduled a brief series of June U.S. concert performances. The artist's Live USA 2002 tour will get underway June 21 at the San Diego State Open Air Theatre, and continue June 23 at Los Angeles' Greek Theatre and June 27 at New York's Radio City Music Hall before closing June 30 at the James Knight Center in Miami.
Tickets to the San Diego show will go on sale Friday (April 26) via Ticketmaster. Tickets for the remaining shows will go on sale May 4.
The artist's outing comes in support of his 2001 WEA Latina album, "MTV Unplugged," which earlier this year held the No. 1 post on Billboard's Top Latin Albums chart for two weeks and peaked at No. 16 on Billboard's Heatseekers tally. The album has sold 91,000 copies in the U.S., according to SoundScan.
In 2001, Sanz led the field as he won four Latin Grammy Awards: album and pop album of the year for the WEA Latina set "El Alma Al Aire," and record and song of the year for the title track.
Scheduled for Sept. 11, the L.A. awards ceremony was postponed in the wake of the terrorist attacks on the U.S. and eventually canceled, with the winners announced at an Oct. 30 press conference. Sanz was scheduled to perform on the show, and in February appeared on the 44th annual Grammy Awards broadcast with Destiny's Child, performing the album's "Quisiera Ser."
